The NDEB Assessment of Fundamental Knowledge (AFK) is a written examination set by the National Dental Examining Board of Canada as the first step in the equivalency process for dentists who trained outside of Canada or the United States and wish to become licensed to practise in Canada. It is a computer-based, multiple-choice test delivered over two separate sessions and is designed to confirm that a candidate holds the foundational biomedical, clinical, and behavioural-science knowledge expected of a graduating Canadian dental student before that candidate can progress to the practical and clinical stages of the equivalency process.
